Health Care Freedom Act Resurrected!

June 7th, 2010 | Comments Off

Call/write your State Legislators on this one quickly!
In a ninth inning push to protect Tennesseans from the penalty provisions of Obamacare, the state Senate made an unprecedented move to recall from committee SB2560, the companion bill to Rep. Susan Lynn’s Health Care Freedom Act (HB2622).  If passed, HB2622 will write into law a policy statement for all Tennesseans that health care mandates or penalties for defying such mandates may not be carried out in the state of Tennessee.  HB2622 will likely be brought before the full House on Tuesday, June 8 for a vote.  The fight over the bill is expected to be intense.  A Senate vote on SB2560 is expected to follow later in the week.  It is imperative that Tennesseans begin contacting legislators in both the House and Senate to encourage them to vote for this bill.

Financial Reform Passes

May 24th, 2010 | Comments Off

With the help of Republicans Brown, Collins, and Snowe, Dodd received the 60 <http://www.votervoice.net/link/clickthrough/ext/108593.aspx>  votes he needed to move on to the finally vote on the ‘Financial Reform Bill.’  Tennessee Senators Alexander and Corker voted NO on cloture.

New Hampshire’s Judd Gregg proposed an amendment <http://www.votervoice.net/link/clickthrough/ext/108594.aspx>  to prevent Washington from ever using federal funds to bail out the bondholders of state and local governments (except in catastrophes like Hurricane Katrina). The Senate defeated the provision, 47–50 <http://www.votervoice.net/link/clickthrough/ext/108595.aspx> . Tennessee Senators Alexander and Corker voted YES.

In doing so, the Senate broadcast to markets that it wants to keep its options open when it comes to arbitrary bailouts of bondholders, provided those bondholders have made their “investments” in politically favored areas of the economy.
The final vote on the bill was 59-39 <http://www.votervoice.net/link/clickthrough/ext/108596.aspx> .  Tennessee Senators Alexander and Corker voted NO. Now the bill has to be reconciled with the bill that passed the House in December.

PLEASE CALL ALEXANDER AND CORKER AND THANK THEM FOR VOTING “NO.”

Financial Regulation Bill is Socialism
Dick Morris and Eileen McGann
Saturday, May 22, 2010
President Obama has taken the United States one more giant step toward socialism by ramming through the Senate his financial regulation bill.
The bill authorizes the secretary of the treasury — a political appointee — to seize any financial company (bank or non-bank) simply because, in his opinion, it is too big to fail and in danger of insolvency. This power can be used for political retribution, pressure for campaign funding or any other abuse that bureaucratic whim or partisan politics can conceive. It is a power Fidel Castro or Hugo Chavez would love to have! Read more here <http://www.votervoice.net/link/clickthrough/ext/108597.aspx> .

“West Tennessee Freedom Celebration” Saturday, June 5 from 5 pm to 7 pm

May 21st, 2010 | Comments Off

Dear Patriots,

“I have a message, a message from the tea party, a message that is loud and clear and does not mince words: ‘We have come to take our government back.’ ” - Dr. Rand Paul, May 18th, 2010

We are having a HUGE Freedom Celebration again this year! This gathering is not only to oppose big-bad Government, but to also Support OUR Troops, The Freedom Alliance Scholarship Fund and to Celebrate your FREEDOM and LIBERTY. Please help support our efforts at the West Tennessee Freedom Celebration. YOU are an integral part of this event going off perfectly and we need YOU to Volunteer; we simply can NOT do this without YOU.

‘Many hands make for light work’ and we need YOUR help for the “West Tennessee Freedom Celebration” Saturday, June 5 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Jackson, TN.  This event will be held at Liberty Gardens, located at the corner of Stonebridge and Channing Way, off of the Hwy 45 by-pass, North Jackson, TN.

We are welcoming everyone and are looking for as much help as we can possibly get. We need creative ideas to raise money for The Freedom Alliance Scholarship Fund, at the “West Tennessee Freedom Celebration”. If you can help us, have any suggestions, ideas or want to help others at this event please contact: Larry Sipes with Tennesseans for Liberty.org <http://tennesseansforliberty.org/>  at 731.394.8854 or contact Mike Slater at SlaterRadio@gmail.com <mailto:SlaterRadio@gmail.com>

Our troops love to receive care packages filled with the tastes and comforts of home. But last year in every box we put something that touched their hearts more than anything: pictures drawn by our SlaterTaters.

This year we’re going to send out more original works of SlaterTater art than ever!

Enter the “SlaterTater for Freedom Drawing Contest”! It’s easy, on a regular sized piece of paper (something we can easily fit in a box) ask your kids to draw “America”. That’s it. Whatever that means to them. A drawing of our troops, the American flag, a beautiful spring day, the family, whatever creative energy the word “America” stirs up, put it on paper! We’ll pick a few winners and invite them on stage during the Freedom Celebration on June 5 <http://mikeslaterradio.com/2010/05/04/second-annual-freedom-celebration/> th <http://mikeslaterradio.com/2010/05/04/second-annual-freedom-celebration/> . <http://mikeslaterradio.com/2010/05/04/second-annual-freedom-celebration/>

<http://mikeslaterradio.com/2010/05/04/second-annual-freedom-celebration/>

For our Junior SlaterRaiders, feel free to draw something if you’re artistically inclined, but your task is to write a short paragraph answering the question: “What is America?” Piece of cake, right? The winner gets to read their thoughts on stage (or if you’re nervous, we can record it and play it for everyone).

PARENTS, the purpose of this is to start a dialogue with your kids. What are “troops”? Why are we paying tribute to them? What makes America so unique anyway? Get this conversation going, AND HAVE FUN!

You can scan and E-mail your mini-Picasso’s brilliance to Slater@wtjs.com <mailto:Slater@wtjs.com> , or mail or drop them off at the station: 122 Radio Road, Jackson, TN 38301. <http://maps.google.com/maps?client=safari&rls=en&q=122+radio+road+jackson+tn+38305&oe=UTF-8&um=1&ie=UTF-8&hq=&hnear=122+Radio+Rd,+Jackson,+TN+38301&gl=us&ei=4D_nS-WDEMOclgfPvOG0Aw&sa=X&oi=geocode_result&ct=image&resnum=1&ved=0CBcQ8gEwAA>  Make sure to include the artist’s name, age and contact info. Good luck and again –most importantly – HAVE FUN!
